We thought, with the Official Holiday of Gratitude™ coming up, we’d sit down, dinner-table style, and ask some Joneses what they’re thankful for, whether it’s at work or at home.
We learned a lot about how we work and who we are. But the most important thing we learned is that, at Zeus Jones, work and family are pretty much one and the same.
On our work and values:
I’m thankful for the fact that my workplace is a combination of intellectual and emotional growth. And it all has to do with having co-workers that are family, having hyper-intelligent, wonderful clients, and also work that’s values-driven, with clear objectives. That means it’s easy to tie things that you care about to the work, and have some passion.
I think that growing, stretching, doing difficult things — I wouldn’t want to go through them anywhere else. In the past few months, I’ve noticed that when I come to work, I’m happy, and I haven’t been that happy in a long time. We all have difficult things in our lives, and work isn’t somewhere that I have to hide it. It’s somewhere I can grow creatively and also be supported.
And I have so many of those moments where I’m like, “This is amazing. I’m working on a project that’s really impacting women’s lives.” Things that you get to do here really run the gamut of “I can’t believe what I get to do.”
On trust and friendship:
You can really trust everyone at Zeus Jones to have your back, and know that they’re coming from a good place. And that frees up so much emotional space.
Plus, our culture helps people recognize that they can bring their problems to work… This is a place that actually rewards vulnerability. You can bring your whole self to work and it’s not just that people will comfort you, but you can also make it part of what you’re doing.
You have to be informal and relaxed in order to do the best work. Here, I know that everyone wants the best for me as a person, so I can be exactly who I am.
I’m thankful that I don’t work at a place where I want to leave on Fridays — but instead that we actually want to keep hanging out! And I want to spend Sundays with them!
It’s a rare thing to have ACTUAL friends at work. People who you really look forward to seeing. And it’s like, everyone, not just a few people. Whether it’s outside of work or just at the office, it’s pretty amazing.
On the little things:
Free parking!
Josh and I are thankful for Christina Aguilera!
So true — and that Sarah brings Mika to work!
And Mika is thankful for all the treats she gets.
I’m thankful for the thin Sharpie markers. They’re just so perfect for writing.
True. Substantial but elegant.
On the Zeus Jones family:
It’s nice to work for a company whose values make you feel happy working in HR, because you really can make people’s lives better.
I’m really thankful that there are three pregnant people here, and that there are a number of people who’ve gone ahead of us and understand what it’s like to be a working parent.
I’m thankful that everyone seems to actually enjoy it when I bring my slightly terrorist baby to the office. It’s really nice to feel like people are excited to see him – they actually care about his wellbeing.
I love that we work at a place where people feel comfortable bringing their kids in. It’s a place where we can bring our families and our pets. It speaks to a level of trust.
Instead of feeling like it’s where two worlds collide, it’s just one world.
We’re thankful for everybody who calls Zeus Jones home, and for the family we’ve built together. May you and yours have a day full of thankfulness, too.
